Today is World Card Making Day!  What will you be making today?  If you don't have anything planned, perhaps you could make a Thanksgiving card to donate to Surrey Place Care Center, the recipient of the I Feel the Love Project for October.

Quality of life statement taken from the Surrey Place Care Center webite: "Our Quality of Life mission is to provide all our residents with multi-dimensional activities. This can mean designing programs to meet the needs for our short-term rehab residents, who are independent and cognitively intact. It also entails designing programs for our cognitively impaired residents or our bed bound residents. Just as in everyone’s lives, our needs, talents and interests are different. 

We must try to individualize our activities to meet the needs or all in our facility. We also want to ensure group socialization for their benefit. It is important to acknowledge that we must strive to make the entire facility a joyful place for the staff. The whole mission will be met if the entire staff is fully engaged with the residents and everyone is aiming for the same goal… the well being or our residents, mind, body and spirit."

The I Feel the Love Project will be making Thanksgiving Cards during the month of October to be given to the residents of Surrey Place Care Center during November for Thanksgiving. We believe that delivering handcrafted cards at a major holiday such as Thanksgiving promotes the well being of the "mind, body, and spirit" of the residents at Surrey Place Care.  I can't wait to make cards for the elderly this month knowing that it may be the only card that they receive for this holiday.  Do you want to be a part of this experience? I FEEL THE LOVE PROJECT

A message from Madison:

Simply Amazing --

These are the only words I can use to describe the thoughts I have for the month of September. Originally I put out a call for 70 Halloween cards to cover the number of kids who actually reside at Casa Pacifica.  Well, the I Feel the Love Project received 200 cards which is the total number of kids who attend class at the school, and reside at the facility.  Because of your love, support, and generosity, every single child will receive a Halloween card!  How great is that?  I am so happy, humbled, and just honored to be a part of this special project.  Thank you all so much for all of your hard work and dedication to the I Feel the Love Project.

Tomorrow we will be launching our 15th project.  It will be another special project that I am sure you will want to be a part of.  Thank you again for lending all your talents.

I FEEL THE LOVE PROJECT

Wow, what a great day.  Can I just say that I am in complete awe of you fabulous crafters!!  The call went out and the call was answered:)  What an amazing blessing to Casa Pacifica.

The I Feel the Love Project asked for 70 cards for the month of September to send to the children who live at Casa Pacifica, a facility that meets kids and families at the most challenging times of their lives and helps them overcome some of life’s most difficult circumstances, including abuse and neglect, complex emotional and behavioral issues, and family crises.

As of today, this goal was met and surpassed.  The I Feel the Love Project has now received at least 80 cards for the month of September.  You will see 50 cards posted in the photo gallery, but one post includes a single photo of 31 cards. 

What I didn't tell you at the beginning was that Casa Pacifica also has school children who attend class there but do not live at the facility.  All of the extra cards will be going to the kids in these classes.  I am so excited that we will be albe to reach some of them as well.  This is fabulous!!  Can I just say again how much you all touch my heart each month with your continued support.

I have some great things in the works.  You will learn more about them soon.  For now, thank you so much for all that you do.  The word is spreading and that is amazing.  Together we can bring love and support to those in need.
